One Cricket Match - Seven World Records

One match! 7 WORLD RECORDS! One team played the cricket of their LIFETIME!

Netherlands and Ireland participated in a historic match today, where records were broken after every other over. Ireland had set up a target of 190, which Netherlands needed to chase in less than 14.2 overs to qualify for the World Twenty20 Super 10 stage. Not only did the Dutch qualify but they did it in style by scoring 193 in 13.5 overs to etch their name in the history books.

#1 Most sixes hit in an innings
Netherlands scored a world record 19 sixes in a single innings of a Twenty20 international match. The previous best was when Australia had scored 18 sixes in a match against England. Stephan Myburgh scored seven of them, while Tom Cooper contributed with six of his own.

#2 Most sixes hit in a Twenty20 international match
Netherlands (19) and Ireland (11) both contributed to help flounder another record: most sixes in a match (30). The previous record was held when New Zealand and India faced each other in 2009; 24 sixes were hit on that day.

#3 Second joint-fastest fifty in Twenty20 internationals
Stephan Myburgh scored the second joint-fastest fifty in Twenty20 international cricket when he reached there in 17 balls. Yuvraj Singh was the fastest to score a Twenty20 international half-century when he blasted Stuart Broad for six sixes to reach his fifty in 12 balls. With a fifty off 17 balls against Afghanistan in 2012, Paul Sterling of Ireland is the other joint-second fastest fifty scorer in Twenty20 internationals.

#4 Fastest team to score 100 runs
Netherlands became the fastest team to score hundred runs in Twenty20 cricket, doing so in just 7 overs.

#5 Most runs scored in powerplay overs
Netherlands have now hit the most number of runs by any team in the powerplay overs of a Twenty20 international game: 91 runs at a staggering run-rate of 15.16.

#6 Second highest run-rate at the end of a match
When Netherlands finished the match scoring 193 in just 13.5 overs, their innings run-rate read 13.95, which is only the second highest in Twenty20 history. New Zealand, when they defeated Scotland at The Oval in 2009, scored 90 in 6 overs to finish with a run-rate of 15. It was a T20 game reduced to 7 overs.

#7 Sixth highest successful run-chase in Twenty20 international history
Netherlands completed the 6th highest successful run-chase in the history of Twenty20 internationals on their way to 190 against Ireland. India hold the record for the highest successful run-chase; they scored 211 runs for the loss of 4 wickets to defeat Sri Lanka at Mohali in 2009.
